About the Platform
El Niño One Wave is a climate intelligence platform that connects real-time disaster events to agricultural commodity markets and food security outcomes. Built as a public good by a registered charity, it provides free, open-access intelligence to NGOs, journalists, researchers, policymakers, and analysts.
The platform tracks the chain from climate event (cyclone, flood, drought, wildfire) through agricultural disruption, supply mechanism, commodity price movement, and food security impact — in real time, using authoritative public data sources.
Data Sources
- GDACS (Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System) — European Commission JRC
- Open-Meteo — Agricultural temperature anomalies, real-time
- World Bank Commodity Price Data (Pink Sheet) — Monthly index
- NOAA Climate Prediction Center — Oceanic Niño Index (ONI)
- IPC Global — Food Security Phase Classification
- FEWS NET — Famine Early Warning Systems Network (USAID)
